While it's true that there are web design features you won't find in Tidy, we can help you with many web design basics such as menus, sub menus, nested menus, hyperlinks, password protected / restricted access to pages, embedding content and image or video uploads.
Getting Started
Click on Web Pages on the left hand grey side bar of your dashboard.
You'll then see this screen:
The first item listed is your Home page. This is a default setting and you are unable to delete this. You can edit the page either here (or under Organisation Settings > Web Page Settings).
Customising your website
There's a lot you can do to customise your TidyHQ website:
Some pages will be automatically published
Add external links e.g to state or national bodies, or resources
Add new pages to your website e.g benefits of membership, or club records
Group web pages together with a main menu and sub pages - in TidyHQ this is called a Collection
You can watch some video tutorials or click on the links above to read more about each feature.
Automatic Publishing
Some Pages within your website will be automatically published when they are active and in use within your TidyHQ account.
For example, if you have a Membership Level set to "public" view, and a payment gateway connected, then the Membership Page will automatically appear as a menu item on your TidyHQ public-facing website.
This also applies to Events, Shop and any Meetings you set to "public" view.
There is some limited customisation you can do within these pages if needed.
Add a Web Page
To add a new Page, select New Page.
Enter a title for your page.
By design, adding a new web page also creates a corresponding main menu item.
Add your text into the "name of page in menu" field.
If this is a main menu item, then the first 2 fields must match i.e Page title and Name of Page in Menu.
However, if you want a standalone page (that is, an "orphan" page that doesn't appear in a menu), then "Name of Page in Menu" field should be blank.
Enter your page content.
Select the visibility for your page. You can have it visible to:
Public (everyone can view it),
Groups (only members of a Group will see the page [user must be logged in])
Admin Only (only visible to logged in Admins)
When you're ready, select Published. This will ensure your new page is visible on the public-facing page of your website.
If you wish to Customise Social Sharing Details, then check this box as well.
Save.
Create sub menus / Add a New Collection
Perhaps you need to group a series of web pages together in a structure with a main menu item and corresponding sub pages. In Tidy this is called a Collection. You can easily move pages around from one collection to another if your content structure changes over time. You can add as many sub menus and collections as you require.
Click on Add New Collection and enter a Collection Title, eg. Wine Appreciation
Click +New Page and complete the fields as required.
The "Position in Menu" field is the one that determines which collection this page will belong to.
To ensure your new page sits underneath the right collection like a sub menu, make sure your selection in the "Position in Menu" field is correct.
NOTE: The "position in menu" field only shows if there is text in the "Page Title" field. After clicking +New Page, the "position in menu" field will be hidden until you type something into the "Page Title" field. The visibility toggles on and off based on the "Page Title" field.
Click one of the Save options.
To easily add new pages into your collection in the future, simply click on +New Page or +New External Link next to the collection name when you are in the web pages main view.
New External Link
You can direct your site visitors to other websites that are external to yours. You can create a menu item using the +External Link button or add one to a collection.
In the "URL" field, add the web address of the external link you want to include. Then complete the rest of the fields.
When visitors click on the external link from your public-facing page, the link will automatically open in a new window.
