How are the TidyHQ and Stripe fees calculated?

If your organisation is charging a fee for membership/tickets/merchandise, the fee is calculated based on the online transaction amount. The fees charged by TidyHQ vary based on your Subscription, more information about TidyHQ Pricing is available HERE.

Australian & US customers

For Pro Plan Customers:

  • TidyHQ Fee = 1% + 20c

For Starter Plan Customers:

  • TidyHQ Fee = 3% + 20c

UK customers

For Pro Plan Customers:

  • TidyHQ Fee = 1% + £0.10

For Starter Plan Customers:

  • TidyHQ Fee = 3% + £0.10

For BOTH plan types in ALL countries, the Stripe fee also applies - this fee at time of writing for Australian customers is:

  • Stripe^ Fee AUD 1.70% + 30c

Important Note: Stripe fees vary from country to country, and may be subject to change without notice. If you're in a country other than Australia, please check the Stripe site for details about your location. In Australia, the American Express Stripe fee is 2.9% (not applicable to the US).

We've put some examples together to help explain.

If you're in Australia, you also need to know about Goods & Services Tax (GST).

And yes, transaction amounts are rounded if required.


Examples (in Australian Dollars) using Stripe^:

Pro Plan Subscription:

For example, for a $100 membership:

  1. TidyHQ Fee:

    1. 1% of $100 + $0.20

    2. $1.00 + $0.20

    3. Tidy HQ Fee is $1.20

  2. Stripe Fee:

    1. 1.70% of ($100 - TidyHQ Fee) + $0.30

    2. 1.70% of $98.80 + $0.30

    3. Stripe Fee is $1.98

  3. Total Fees:

    $1.20 (TidyHQ) + $1.98 (Stripe) = $3.18

    The amount remaining from the initial payment of $100 is $96.82.

So, $96.82 is moved to the Organisation's bank account that is linked to their Stripe account.

Starter Plan Subscription:

For example, for a $100 membership:

  1. TidyHQ Fee:

    1. 3% of $100 + $0.20

    2. $3.00 + $0.20

    3. Tidy HQ Fee is $3.20

  2. Stripe Fee:

    1. 1.70% of ($100 - TidyHQ Fee) + $0.30

    2. 1.70% of $96.80 + $0.30

    3. Stripe Fee is $1.95

  3. Total Fees:

    $3.20 (TidyHQ) + $1.95 (Stripe) = $5.15

    The amount remaining from the initial payment of $100 is $94.85.

So, $94.85 is moved to the Organisation's bank account that is linked to their Stripe account.

NOTE: The Member purchasing the Membership is always charged the amount you have published - for the examples above, $100.00.

NOTE: We no longer allow the adding of fees on top of your advertised item price, as some laws no longer allow this practice to happen. You need to include the cost of paying the fees within your advertised item price.

For our Australian Customers, all fees mentioned above are inclusive of Goods & Services Tax (GST).

Important Note on Rounding:

It is important to note that the banks and Stripe^ all round their fees to various decimal places - in other words, while we have a good guess at what they are, they are occasionally rounded in the other direction. If you do see this, we have not taken the wrong amount but simply illustrated it incorrectly - please add Deposit/Expense to reflect the rounding.
