Adding Images to Email

To make images in emails (other than attachments) appear in the body of the email, you need to add them "inline".

Updated this week

Add an inline Image

Click on the Image button in the editing toolbar to open the Image menu.

Click on Browse Server in the Image Properties dialog to get a popup window of the Storage app. When you've found the right image, just click on its name to select it (the URL will be added in Image Properties). You can also upload a new file to Storage before selecting it.

You're not limited to just linking from your Storage; any URL can work. But please be careful about where you link if you don't control the other end!

In the Image Properties menu you can also set the alternative text, width & height, border width (solid black), vertical & horizontal spacing, and alignment.

Hint: Don't try to resize a huge image (like a photo) into your email. The recipient will have to download the whole large image when they receive the message (maybe on their mobile/cell phone). Also, for recipients that may have images turned off, you can add "Alternative Text" so they'll know what the image represented.

Images give the email a bit of interest, but should be used sparingly and not for important text (especially if there is not Alternative Text).

Your text and image may now look something like this:

Pasted-in images

It is also possible to paste an image in, without first linking to it from Storage or another location on the internet. However, some email readers (notably Gmail, Android and Windows Mail) do not support this approach. Your image might display as code or not at all.
