How do I opt out of an Auto-Renewing Membership?

Updated this week

If your organisation uses TidyHQ to manage memberships, your membership might be set to auto-renew.

This means that instead of us sending you an email prompting you to log in and renew manually, we just charge your credit card the morning of renewal and everything's handled automatically.

For many people, auto-renewal is easier and simpler. But perhaps you don't plan on renewing, or maybe you just want to control when your card is charged. We respect your choice!

If you have an existing membership and your organisation turns on auto-renewal for your membership level, you won't be opted in until you renew manually.

Logging in

First, make sure you're logged in to TidyHQ.

Please visit https://accounts.tidyhq.com to log in, then choose any of your organisations.

Second, visit your organisation's Memberships page. If you hold an active membership, you should see a Memberships option in the menu bar:

Alternatively, click on your initials in the top right, then Contact Profile...

... Then Memberships in the side bar. If you don't see a Memberships option here, then you don't have any active or expired memberships on record with this organisation.

Opting Out

You'll know you're in the right place when the URL ends with /member/memberships and what's on screen looks like so:

If auto-renewal is turned on for a membership, it will be displayed like in the screenshot above ("Auto-renew on DD-MM-YYYY").

To turn auto-renew off (or on), click on the membership's View More Details button...

Finally, click on Cancel Auto-renew. You'll see it changes to Resume Auto-renew:

All done! If you change your mind, you can always turn auto-renew back on.

Removing a Credit Card

Even if auto-renew is on, you can only be charged if a card is on file for you.

First, click on Transactions in the left side bar. (If this isn't there, we definitely don't have a card on file for you).

Second, switch over to the Credit Card tab.

Third, delete your card. (If there's no cards listed, then there's nothing more to delete).
