To create a clean and accurate group for next season's membership, it's good practice to start off by creating a new contact group.

In this example, the renewal is due for the existing 2017 Membership. We're going to create a new contact group called '2017 Ordinary Members' to collect all these contacts together.

Go to Contacts > Groups > Add

Give the Group a Name, a Logo and a Description if you'd prefer.

To keep things clean, we'd recommend against using the Populate From field, as this will pull in additional contacts who may not be Members in the coming year.

Next we'll edit the '2017 Membership' Membership Level.
To do this, we go to Memberships > Membership Levels and select the membership name to open up editing.

Now, under the heading Access & Sharing, there is an option Auto-add Member to Group.  We simply search and Add the contact group we just created.

Next, make sure the auto-renewal reminders box is ticked.

So now we've set automatic reminders to occur, Tidy will send out a generic reminder email to everyone who's currently a member.

The email will look something like this:

Now if members renew online via TidyHQ, the system will automatically update the member's contact profile with the next membership term and they will also be auto-added to the 2017 Ordinary Members group.
