Fixed vs Rolling Memberships

What's the difference between Fixed and Rolling Memberships?

What's the difference between Fixed and Rolling Memberships?

A Fixed Membership starts at the date you specify regardless of when your Members sign up or register. e.g. from 1 July to 30 June.

Fixed Membership Type means that the period has a defined start and end date, and that the Membership period begins when you say it does, regardless of when the Member actually signs up. This Membership amount will stay fixed regardless of when the Member first signs up. The Member will also get an email at the end of the period to renew their Membership.

There's no separate "End Date" field

You won't find an End Date field to set anywhere in the Membership Level's settings - for a Fixed Membership, the end date is always calculated automatically as Start Date + Length. To change when a Fixed Membership ends, adjust its Length (or its Start Date), rather than looking for an End Date to edit.

This applies at the Membership Level. If you need to change the dates on a single Contact's existing membership, see Changing the start or end dates of a membership instead.

A Rolling Membership starts on the date the Member signs up and continues for the period you specify.

Therefore, the Member will be asked to renew their Membership at the end of each period. The period starts when they first register for Membership.
