Creating a Zap for syncing Tidy events into Google calendar
Creating a Zap for syncing Tidy events into Google calendar

Getting started on Zapier automation wizardry for syncing your Tidy events into an external Google calendar

Updated over a week ago

If you create events in TidyHQ and are wanting to sync those events to appear in an external Google calendar, then keep reading! We will show you how to create this amazing automation for use in your club.

Creating a Zap

If you are new to Zapier, don’t worry! We’ll walk through creating a zap together to get you started.

1. First, click on the “Create Zap” button in the top left of the website.

2. Once the page has loaded, click on the trigger button and search for TidyHQ.

3. Select the desired event. In our example, let’s use the “Event Activated” trigger.

4. When asked to choose an account, select the TidyHQ account you linked during the Setting Up process. Once selected, click on the “Test Trigger” button in the test section.

If there are no results, then you will need to create the desired activity. For example, we may need to create a new event, and publish it, so Zapier has a test to work with. If you have already published an event in the past, then you may not need to do this (for this scenario).

5. Continue with the latest record. Now we need to add an action.

For our example, we would like to add new events to a Google Calendar, so let’s search for “Google Calendar”. We’ll choose “Create Detailed Event” as the Action and continue.

  • If this is your first time using Google Calendar in Zapier, then you may need to click the “Sign In” button, otherwise, select your account just like we did for TidyHQ.

6. We can now select what data we would like to use from TidyHQ for the new calendar event in Google Calendar. See below for an example:

7. Click continue, then the “Test step” button to ensure that adding the test event to your Google Calendar is working properly. Checking our Google Calendar, we should be able to see the event!

8. Let’s rename your zap in the top left corner, then finally, click on the “Publish” button to save the zap.
