Renewing an existing level into a new season? Don't duplicate it.
If members are meant to renew the same membership year after year, duplicating the level each season is usually the wrong move - members can't renew in place into a newly-created level, since renewing only works within the same level. A Fixed membership already recognises each subsequent year or season as a valid start date on the same level, so there's usually nothing to duplicate. Duplicating is the right tool when you're creating a genuinely different level - a new tier, a variation with different pricing or fields, or a one-off program that won't itself be renewed.
Head to Memberships > Membership Levels > Click the Membership Level you want to copy > Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Duplicate' button.
Once you have created a copy you will need to make the appropriate edits such as renaming the Membership Level and editing the Groups that you will automatically drop these Contacts into.
